BELOW IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF LEADERSHIP:
Besides her active leadership in the local IAAP chapter, she is her department’s representative on the Environment Health and Safety Committee. This role not only includes her work on the department move, but also includes raising awareness on general safety concerns, reporting unsafe conditions and supporting site energy reduction. Based on their efforts, there was a reduction in site accidents and injuries in 2009 and the team was nominated for a Team Award in 2010. She successfully led a group responsible for arranging a department team-building activity. She is an active member of the Fun Club Team. In 2009, she worked with that team to organize a team-building day where her department staff volunteered at the local YMCA. She is a people person who enjoys networking on-site and off. She is recognized as a leader on the job and from her various positions in IAAP. Through her attendance at the division IAAP conferences, she has made friends with several local, divisional and international IAAP officers. She is always looking for people to speak at chapter meetings and is often able to build relationships with professionals that accept her invitation to do just that. During an event in 2007, she was able to book an entire year’s worth of meeting speakers in one day of networking, collecting business cards and asking if they would be willing to speak at her chapter. In 2009, she also planned and hosted two IAAP Leadership Forums that increased member awareness of leadership opportunities. She also manned the IAAP booth at a Site Opportunity Expo to raise awareness of IAAP to 1,500 employees on campus. For Administrative Professionals Week in 2009, she recommended and coordinated the keynote speaker and also arranged for every attendee to receive the speaker’s book. During that same week, she also planned and hosted the IAAP APW webcast. She was recognized by management for her work on the move project with an IPA (Individual Performance Award). This award is monetary and is very rarely given except when someone goes above and beyond. She also received the IAAP MOE (Member of Excellence) Award in 2009.
