Carol Evans is the founder and CEO of Working Mother Media. She is a working mom herself with two children, Robert and Julia Rose. Carol's first book, This Is How We Do It: The Working Mothers’ Manifesto, was published and released in April 2006 by Hudson Street Press, a member of Penguin Group. Ms. Evans’ history with Working Mother Media is a long and illustrious one. In 1979, she sold advertising for the test issue of Working Mother, then published by McCall’s. During the next 10 years, Carol grew advertising at Working Mother magazine from $100,000 to more than $14 million. She also helped to develop the well-known Working Mother 100 Best Companies initiative, which is now in its 22nd year.
From 1989 to 2001, she ran two publishing companies: Stagebill and Chief Executive. In 2001, she returned to Working Mother, buying the company just three weeks before September 11 and founding Working Mother Media. Since then, she has announced several initiatives, including the Best Companies for Multicultural Women. In January 2007, Working Mother Media acquired Diversity Best Practices, the preeminent organization for diversity thought leaders to share best practices and develop innovative solutions for culture change. This acquisition makes Carol's company the largest U.S. media company focusing on diversity, work-life and culture change. |
